Living on the sailing catamaran "Kisiwa" since 2022, she combines her linguistic, literary, teaching, touristic experiences as well as her theoretical background.
She invites to profit from the inspiration gained by travelling, to write together and to travel sustainably.
Professional education in tourism, life experience and creativity meet here.
- 77 countries travelled to.
- 15 years tourism: ski school, cruise ships, from the North Cape to Sicily, national parks in the USA, in Switzerland and Austria.
As tour guide, receptionist, service, office, bar, restaurant, kitchen, room service.
- Loves, since she is able to read, to retreat with a story, although her surrounding would describe her as extroverted.
She has mainly always done that with suspense literature. Not only the literature courses of her University degree motivated her to read many different genres.
- Writes since she was a teenager, publishes since 2012, as she likes to share her thoughts and experiences.
Preferences: suspense, travel literature.
Linguistic experiments are responsible for her title "word artist".
Language as the main ingredient of literature is important to her, not only as a vehicle. Applied linguistics had already been used in her master's thesis.
She questions, challenges, takes on different perspectives, regards language holistically as intermediary element for history, implicit content.
A main concern is tolerance and fairness.
- Neutral language
- Standard vs. language variations and dialects
It is a pleasure for her to share her findings about that and about rhetoric, how to communicate in another country with a different language in light speed and how suspense comes in here.
While traveling in countries with foreign languages, she communicates in any language in no time. She shares the tips and tricks, which she had acquired within her University degree on the pedagogical institute, the institute of Anglistics and American studies, as well as the institute of Romance philology, within decades of approved linguistic courses, with pleasure in language lessons. Motto: Acquire language simply by "picking it up" with fun, by concentrating on the most important aspects.
She leaves behind:
- 12 years as a language trainer and coach: Private and public institutes for adults and teenagers in Austria and Switzerland.
For German, English, Italian, French, communication.

Spending eight days on a writing retreat sailing around the Greek islands was such a special and memorable experience. The setting alone — waking up to new islands, swimming in crystal-clear
water, and writing surrounded by so much beauty — made it feel like a dream.
Julia and Ralf were truly wonderful hosts. It’s so clear how much care and love they put not only into the writing retreat itself, but also into their boat, which was our home for the week.
Everything was so cozy, clean, and thoughtfully maintained — it really added to the comfort of the whole experience.
The writing workshop was also a real highlight. Julia created such a supportive, insightful space for me to share my work and receive feedback. It felt encouraging, warm, and really valuable,
no matter where you were in your writing process.
On top of all that, the food was absolutely delicious — fresh, home-cooked meals that made you feel completely spoiled. I left the retreat feeling both creatively recharged and deeply
relaxed. It’s such a beautiful, intentional experience — I’d recommend it to any writer looking for inspiration, community, and a little adventure.
"Very interesting input within the workshop 'suspense writing'"
„The lesson was conducted in an interesting and diversified way and every single participant was looked after. The course leader always made sure the atmosphere was positive and motivating."
„Julia always offers good explanations, and is always clear with the notes she produces during and after the class.“
"Even I impress with my language skills now." (Peter, London)
"Because of Julia I was able to keep studied elements also for the future." (Sophie, France)
"I was always very motivated after the lessons." (Petra, Vienna)
"She was able to pass her passion for traveling on to us participants."(Juliane, Austria)
"Now I can use my English without fear." (Roland, Switzerland)

It was an honor to be on the board of the VFU, the club for female entrepreneurs in Switzerland, to be able to contribute to communication, before moving to the sailing ship.
It was mainly about networking, the reciprocal support of entrepreneur women.
A very interesting conversation with the author, selfpublisher of Dubai criminal stories, Gaby Barton.
We find things we have in common, talk about language, linguistics within suspense literature, our passion for traveling.- Neutral language within novel writing - publishing unconventional content without exclusively profit-oriented publishing companies - traveling and writing
In the conversation with Chantal Schmelz of the club for female entrepreneurs in Switzerland, they talk about leaving the rat race, tips and hints for female entrepreneurs and ups and downs on the road of Julia.
After a short journey into the history of suspense literature within an interactive workshop, there are exercises. Directly putting theory into practice, raises your potential. Hand picked techniques help to apply the theory. As there is also room for questions and for text presentations, quality is put over quantity. The online seminar works for beginners as well as for advanced. Although a missing test of pre-skills, leads to the overlapping of an already present set of skills. Reciprocal inspiration can be a big advantage for all writers.
