General information:
-Are solo travelers safe/welcome?
Yes, of course. Please check out the different booking and price options.
-Is it possible for a child to join the retreat,and can I bring my child along? (under 12)?
Unfortuantely not since we cannot provide child safety measures on the boat.
Also: Our aim is to create an inspiring and productive setting for your writing.
-Is the retreat suitable for teenagers? (12-18)
No. Due to reasons of responsibility and insurance, all participants must have reached the legal age of adulthood, in this case the age of 18.
-Can I bring my pet(s)?
Unfortuantely also no because of the lack of animal safety measures on our boat. In addition, I imagine the many stray cats and dogs here could make the situation even more difficult.
-How many people will take part in the retreat?
Up to a maximum of 4.
-How old is the average participant?
Since we can only take up to four people per exclusive tour, the age of the participants varies greatly.
However, I (Host, ship owner, author, etc.) was born in 1975 and my husband (ship owner, skipper, first officer, etc.) was born in 1969.
Arrival/Departure:
-What kind of luggage is suitable for the sailing boat?
It is necessary to arrive with soft bags, or backpacks (NO suitcase!), as only those can be brought on board.
Deprive of a lot of luggage! This way you can engage better and leave ballast and burden at home. Your live on board is easier this way, as re-finding a lot of items makes it more difficult.
-Is there any flexibility regarding the dates, or do you offer any other periods as listed?
If you decide to book all 4 spots of the retrat, the dates are rather flexible. In this case we can find an individual solution.
-Is there the possibility of an organized airport transfer?
We may be able to arrange for an airport transfer for you, but are reluctant to make promises we may not be able to keep. Our location always depends on the weather.
-Is the duration of the retreat flexible; could I shorten the stay or stay for a couple days more?
Longer or shorter retreats are possible, please get in contact with me to find an individual solution.
Nature:
-Does the ship move around a lot/is in constant movement?
No, since in our case the sailing boat is a sailing catamaran. In general a catamran is more stable in the water in comparison to other boats. However, If you worry about nausea we advise you to bring seasickness pills. Earplugs can also come in handy.
Emergency:
-What happens, if I get sick just before the retreat?
Please have a look at the specific booking condicions; however: Do not forget to get in touch with us and we will find a solution, such as postponing the retreat or filling you into a free spot of another week.
-Is it possible to leave the boat (for example due to constant seasikness)?
Of course! Your wellbeing is of emense importance for us. We will help and have a small boat for the transport in the harbour.
Accomodation / Living:
-Do we have a shower and toilet to ourselves?
No, we share a clean bathroom. Let´s celebrate the simple ways of life and find inspiration in them!
-Will you pair up participant of the retreat in the cabins; will I share a cabin?
Certainly not. If you should choose to bring another person, please keep the special booking options for a shared cabin in mind.
-Do you provide for running water on the boat?
Yes, there is free (drinking) water from our tank, which is filled by the desalination system or external drinking water.
-Can I go ashore on my own?
Transfers are only possible from our anchorage spot and if the hight of the waves allow so. The security of the ship, as well as the functional implementation have to be considered, which is why rides with the dingi (little transport boat) can not be guaranteed any time. I am confident though, that we are able to agree on useful transportation, if we communicate early enough. It will mainly be possible to swim ashore, because of the short distance. Probably a SUP will be available.
-Are there specific rules to follow on board?
Using the ship and its facilities takes adaption. Hardly anything, which can be taken for granted on land, can be treated as such on board. To be able to grant a peaceful life with each other and the protection of our direct environment, the sea, we need your help and cooperation and careful implementation of our board rules, which will be explained upon arrival. Don't worry, nothing is difficult or complicated, yet life saving for certain devices, which make a comfortable life on a certain standard possible.
We are going to hear and see each other. Granting the other person's privacy, requires a different kind of adaptation, then on land.
